STATE ADVERTISING

We are committed to ensuring that advertising buying decisions made by the Southern Regional Assembly are based on transparent, objective, proportionate and non-discriminatory criteria.

The procedures we have in place to support this are:

  • Campaigns are designed to ensure inclusive coverage across all ten local authority areas in the Southern Region, with messaging tailored to regional priorities.
  • A register of regional and local media outlets is maintained and reviewed regularly to support inclusive media planning, ensure balanced representation and to ensure that regional, local, and community-based outlets are considered for campaign inclusion where appropriate.
  • All advertising procurement is conducted in line with public sector procurement rules and relevant frameworks, with oversight to ensure compliance with EMFA principles.
  • Where feasible, campaign materials are produced in both English and Irish, and media channels are selected to support statutory language obligations and cultural inclusion.

The criteria that we take into consideration in awarding advertising are:

  • Media consumption data and ability to reach target audiences
  • Value for money
  • Appropriate geographical spread
  • Statutory requirements in relation to public notices
  • Statutory requirements in relation to Irish language advertising

We seek to ensure that, where possible, our overall expenditure on advertising is distributed to a wide variety of media, depending on the specific requirements of each campaign.
