  • Graduate Planner

    Graduate Planner – Fixed-term Contract

    The Southern Regional Assembly, based in Waterford City, is recruiting for the role of Graduate Planner, on a three-year fixed-term contract.

    Applicants should hold an honours degree (level 8 or higher in the National Framework of Qualifications) in Planning, or be due to graduate this year and expect to achieve an honour in a level 8 Honours degree or higher in Planning.

    The Role

    As a Graduate Planner within the Southern Regional Assembly’s Planning and Economic Development team, you will play an important role in shaping the sustainable growth and development of the Southern Region. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to projects that influence how communities live, work and thrive, while developing your professional planning career in a dynamic regional planning environment.

    Working alongside experienced planners and regional development professionals, you will support the preparation, monitoring and implementation of the Regional Spatial and Economic Strategy (RSES), as well as a range of initiatives including EU projects that promote balanced regional development, strengthen local economies, and enhance the quality of life for communities across the region. The role offers valuable experience across a broad spectrum of planning, economic development and policy-related activities, providing a strong foundation for a career in the planning profession.

    A structured Support & Development Programme will be in place to support the training and development of Graduate Planners, to assist in their work and to prepare the graduate for future Assistant Planner posts.

    The Person

    The ideal candidate should have a passion for shaping communities and tackling regional planning challenges and a collaborative mindset.  Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills are also very important.

    Location

    The HQ of the Regional Assembly is in Waterford City and the post will be based either at our HQ, or at our Office in Cork City, with an option to request a blended working arrangement.

    Salary

    Salary is €40,244 – €50,951 p.a.

  • Communications Officer Fixed Term Contract

    Communications Officer (Grade V)

    Fixed-Term Contract (Maternity Leave Cover)

    The Southern Regional Assembly wishes to recruit a full-time Communications Officer (Maternity Leave Cover) to support the delivery of communications and visibility activities relating primarily to the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) Programme and to contribute to the delivery of corporate communications, stakeholder engagement and digital communications activities across the work of the Assembly.

    The Post

    Duties will include:

    • Coordinating communications activities relating to the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) Programme in the Southern, Eastern and Midland Regional Programme area
    • Supporting compliance with ERDF communications, publicity and visibility requirements
    • Developing and delivering communications campaigns to highlight ERDF project achievements, programme outputs and regional impact
    • Liaising with project partners, Managing Authorities, Government Departments and other stakeholders to support programme communications and engagement
    • Producing, editing and publishing content for websites, social media channels, newsletters, publications and other communications materials
    • Identifying and promoting project case studies, success stories and communications opportunities arising from ERDF funded projects
    • Maintaining digital communications channels including Assembly website content and social media platforms
    • Maintaining communications content, imagery and evidence to support programme reporting, monitoring and evaluation
    • Acting as a guardian of the Southern Regional Assembly’s brand and visual identity, ensuring the consistent application of branding and communications standards across the organisation
    • Supporting media engagement, press releases, events and publicity activities relating to ERDF funded projects and schemes
    • Providing communications advice and support to Assembly staff in the development of publications, presentations and stakeholder communications
    • Supporting Assembly events, publications and communications initiatives
    • Undertaking work related travel, as required (both domestic and international)

    The role will have a primary focus on promoting and supporting communications activities associated with ERDF-funded projects and ensuring continued visibility of EU investment across the Southern Region.

    The Person

    Well educated with excellent interpersonal and communications skills and an ability to deal with people across a range of organisations, candidates should possess relevant experience in communications, stakeholder engagement, digital communications, content creation or public relations activities. The Communications Officer will also be expected to have a satisfactory knowledge of public service organisation in Ireland and a practical understanding of economic, social and regional development issues at national, regional and local level. An awareness of the communications, publicity and visibility requirements associated with EU Cohesion Funds is desirable, as is experience in website management, social media, media relations and corporate communications.

    Salary

    Salary is €52,761 – €63,109 p.a. (inclusive of Long Service Increment).

    Contract

    This is a fixed-term contract to provide maternity leave cover. The appointment is expected to be for a period of approximately 12 months.

    Location

    The HQ of the Regional Assembly is in Waterford City and the post will be based at HQ.  The Regional Assembly operates a remote working policy.
