Committee of the
Regions Role
The Committee of the Regions (CoR), established in 1994, is an EU advisory body composed of 350 elected local and regional representatives from all EU member states. As the voice of regions and cities, the CoR provides advice on legislation that impacts these areas, which account for 70% of all EU laws. The committee meets six times annually to debate and adopt resolutions on proposed laws, ensuring regional perspectives are considered in the EU legislative process. Through its work, the CoR helps shape policies that directly affect the everyday lives of citizens across the European Union.

Eileen Lynch, Cllr. Fergal Dennehy (alternate), Cllr. Dan Boyle (alternate), Cllr. Joe Hannigan (alternate) and Cllr. Kieran McCarthy (alternate). They are also Members of the Southern Regional Assembly due to their representative role on the Committee of the Regions.
