About the Programme
The Southern, Eastern & Midland Regional Programme 2021-27, co-financed by the Government of Ireland and the European Union, supports balanced regional development under EU objectives.
It is aligned with the Government’s aim of promoting balanced regional development by supporting the implementation of the Regional Economic and Spatial Strategies in each of the two Programme regions (Southern Region and Eastern & Midland Region). It aims to strengthen economic and social cohesion while addressing imbalances between regions.
The Southern Regional Assembly are the Managing Authority for the Southern, Eastern and Midland Regional Programme 2021-27.
Programme Priorities
The Southern, Eastern & Midland Regional Programme 2021-27 will see €663 million in overall support during the period, €265 million from the ERDF and €398 million of national funding to support activities in the areas of research and innovation, energy efficiency, and sustainable urban regeneration.

Monitoring & Implementation
The Monitoring Committee oversees the implementation of the Regional Programme, ensuring alignment with the objectives outlined in the Programme Document. Comprising representatives from public, private, and third sector organisations, it meets annually to review progress. Its role is governed by Articles 38-40 of the Common Provisions Regulation 2021/1060, ensuring transparency and conflict of interest prevention.
Intermediate Bodies (IBs)
To ensure the effective implementation of EU funds, we work with designated Intermediate Bodies (IBs). These organisations are entrusted with specific responsibilities to support beneficiaries and oversee project implementation in line with EU and national regulations.
By working with these trusted partners, we ensure that EU funds are efficiently managed, transparently distributed, and effectively contribute to the development of the Southern, Eastern and Midland regions of Ireland.
