Meetings of the Southern
Regional Assembly 

The Assembly Members of the Southern Regional Assembly convene monthly to address key issues related to regional planning, the management of EU programmes, and the Assembly’s various statutory responsibilities. These meetings allow members to review and discuss submissions to local authorities, the national government, and the European Union, ensuring alignment with regional development goals. Additionally, members focus on overseeing the implementation of European-funded projects and programmes that aim to promote economic growth and enhance the quality of life in the Southern Region. Through their participation in committees, members ensure effective governance and strategic planning to achieve sustainable development across the region.

Meetings Schedule

The Southern Regional Assembly holds its monthly meetings on the second Friday of every month (except August) in Assembly House.

Public Attendance at Meetings

Members of the public and press are invited to attend meetings of the Southern Regional Assembly, in line with the Assembly’s Standing orders and subject to venue capacity. Members of the public and press may not attend meetings that are held in Committee.

Members of the public and press should remain seated and be silent during meetings, and also observe any directions given by the Cathaoirleach or by Assembly staff in attendance.

The Assembly may, if they are of the opinion that any matters before them should not be discussed in public, by resolution preclude the public from attendance. No visual or sound recording shall be allowed during any meeting, without the prior consent of the Assembly.
