Responsibilities
The Southern Regional Assembly has 35 elected representatives, made up of 27 nominated from local authorities, 7 Committee of the Region members, and the directly elected mayor of Limerick. Members of the Assembly meet monthly to address various aspects of regional planning, including submissions to local authorities, national government, and the EU. They also oversee EU programme management and other statutory functions of the Assembly. Additionally, Assembly members serve on committees focused on EU programme management and regional planning to ensure effective implementation and oversight.
