and Progress
The RSES is being implemented through close collaboration with local authorities and state agencies, working together to build a cohesive and sustainable region. Progress and achievements will be regularly updated on this page. In 2022 and 2024, we published the RSES Two-Year Monitoring Reports, in accordance with Section 25 of the Planning and Development Act. This report highlights key initiatives undertaken to advance the RSES objectives across the region and underscores the essential contributions of Government Departments, Local Authorities, and public bodies in promoting balanced, sustainable development in the Southern Region.

The RSES, a long-term, strategic development framework providing for the future The Regional Spatial and Economic Strategy (RSES) is a long-term framework designed to guide the physical, economic, and social development of the Southern Region, aiming to achieve balanced growth and fully implement Project Ireland 2040—the National Planning Framework. The RSES is being implemented through close collaboration with local authorities and state agencies, working together to build a cohesive and sustainable region.
