About Technology Gateway Programme

The Enterprise Ireland Technology Gateways Programme 2023-2029 connects local industry with research expertise in Technological Universities (TUs) and Institutes of Technology (IoTs). Co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the EU under the ERDF, the programme enhances economic, social, and territorial cohesion across regions.

Technology Gateway personnel act as a bridge between companies and research groups, identifying technical challenges and managing collaborations. They connect businesses with expertise, refer them within the national network if needed, and highlight funding opportunities—while ensuring no direct economic or commercial activity is undertaken.

Objectives of a funded Technology Gateway

  • Facilitate collaborations with industry to work on challenging problems and facilitate technology transfer to companies.
  • Provide an open access point to industry.
  • Serve as a portal for companies to wider expertise on a national level through a Network of Technology Gateways.
  • Engage industry in its ongoing strategic development to ensure the continued relevance of the Technology Gateway to evolving industry requirements.
