FutureECOS – Future-proofing living spaces in Growth Corridor Regions – is a visionary initiative aimed at transforming growth corridor regions across Europe into sustainable, attractive, and technologically advanced living spaces. Coordinated by the Regional Council of Häme, Finland, this project brings together partners from six territories to drive innovation in housing and regional development. Through this collaborative effort, FutureECOS seeks to create living environments that are not only equipped for future challenges but also enhance the quality of life for all residents. 

Future ECOS  seeks to redefine urban peripheries by: 

  • 01 – Integrating Smart and Sustainable Solutions: Employing digital technology and sustainable practices in urban design and housing. 
  • 02 – Boosting Regional Attractiveness: Enhancing the livability and economic viability of growth corridors to compete with metropolitan areas. 
  • 03 – Promoting Inclusiveness and Quality of Life: Focusing on inclusivity, health, and leisure to ensure that developments meet diverse community needs. 
  • 04 – Fostering Multi-sectoral Collaboration: Encouraging cooperation among public authorities, private actors, and citizens to drive effective policy-making and implementation. 
  • 05 – Learning from Experience: Utilising insights from recent global challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic to inform resilient and adaptable urban planning.
