Irish Partners secured over €4 million in European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) support in latest North-West Europe Interreg programme funding calls. When combined with the match funding from the project partners this support will underpin €11 million of new investment
At the recent Programme Monitoring Committee meeting of the North-West Europe Interreg programme, 17 research proposals were approved under the second call, of which 9 had Irish project partners (including Munster Technical University with 3 successful projects and Cork City Council with two projects). This decision released a total of €3.34 million in ERDF support for these Irish partners, which when combined with partner match funding will result in almost €9 million of additional research funding.
At the same meeting, under the third call 15 small scale projects were approved of which 7 projects had Irish partners (including 3 with Irish Lead Partners – Ballymun Job Centre Co-op Society Ltd; National Botanic Gardens (OPW), TU Shannon: Midlands Midwest. This decision released a further €802k in ERDF support for these Irish partners, which when combined with partner match funding will result in just over €2.1 million of funding.
The latest programme monitoring committee (PMC) meeting of the North-West Europe European Territorial Cooperation (ETC) programme took place in Nantes, France from 20-22 November and was attended by David Kelly, Director of the Southern Regional Assembly, Sarah Davoren, National Contact Point for Irish applicants to the programme and Adam Flanagan from Cohesion Policy team in the Department of Public Expenditure, NDP Delivery and Reform.
