Members of our Regional Planning team attended the Irish Planning Institute’s (IPI) Annual Conference last week. The conference was held in Salthill, Co. Galway with the Salthill Hotel hosting the three-day event. As the IPI celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, the theme of the conference was ‘Planning’s Past Achievements & Future Opportunities’.
The conference kicked-off on Wednesday with a welcome reception and the launch of the Institute’s 2025 Irish Planning Awards.
Over the following days, information sessions and panel discussions were held on a variety of topics, including placemaking and rural development, reform, the state of the environment, and fifty years of best practice and lessons for the future. Other events included a forum on planning and the Irish language – Pleanáil agus an Ghaeilge, and a bus tour that highlighted rural pressures and opportunities with Galway County Council.
