This week, the Southern Regional Assembly were delighted to play a part in Waterford’s first Learning City Shared Island Exchange Visit, an important milestone in the city’s journey as a UNESCO Learning City.
The visit began in Assembly House with a warm welcome from Mayor of the Metropolitan District of Waterford, Adam Wyse, and the Southern Regional Assembly’s Assistant Director, Cormac Lapthorne, followed by a special poetry performance from two exceptionally talented local young people.
The visit continued across the week with a wealth of conversations and collaborative discussions, bringing together representatives of the learning cities and regions across Ireland to share best practices, forge new ideas for collaboration, and support the continued evolution of the Irish Network of Learning Cities.
