The Regional Spatial and Economic Strategy (RSES) for the Southern Region Two-Year Monitoring Report 2022-2024, has been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 25A of the Planning and Development Act 2000, as amended.

It specifies the progress made in securing the overall objectives of the RSES by the Regional Assembly; and public bodies and local authorities who made submissions to the report. While there has been substantial progress made in terms of policy alignment between the national, regional and local tiers based on the National Planning Framework and RSES with the adoption of the City and County Development Plans during the monitoring period, and significant investment made by public bodies in the Region under Project Ireland 2040; concerns remain regarding the extent to which government funding follows policy and buy-in to the NPF in order to achieve its objectives for balanced regional development.
