Mayor of Wexford, Garry Laffan officially launched the Crescent Quay Public Realm Improvement Scheme on Sunday, 26th June 2022.
Crescent Quay is a central site within the Economic and Spatial Strategy project area and represents a unique feature of the town’s public realm. It is proposed to transform the Crescent into an active public space, reduce vehicular dominance and enhance the public realm. The development of a mix of commercial and public realm spaces will make the area a landmark feature within the town. Additionally, enhanced connectivity with the Main Street, Trinity Wharf and the Quays forms an integral part of the proposal. Submissions from the public were invited as part of this process. Wexford County Council has secured €1m under ERDF funding which, with matching funding from the council provides a budget of €2.2m for the initial public realm enhancement project. Construction works commenced in January 2019 and were completed in early 2020.
The Southern Regional Assembly manages the ERDF Southern & Eastern Regional Programme, and the Crescent Quay Public Realm Improvement Scheme is one of the projects funded under the Designated Urban Centre Grants Scheme.
