Graduate Planner – Fixed-term Contract
The Southern Regional Assembly, based in Waterford City, is recruiting for the role of Graduate Planner, on a three-year fixed-term contract.
Applicants should hold an honours degree (level 8 or higher in the National Framework of Qualifications) in Planning, or be due to graduate this year and expect to achieve an honour in a level 8 Honours degree or higher in Planning.
The Role
As a Graduate Planner within the Southern Regional Assembly’s Planning and Economic Development team, you will play an important role in shaping the sustainable growth and development of the Southern Region. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to projects that influence how communities live, work and thrive, while developing your professional planning career in a dynamic regional planning environment.
Working alongside experienced planners and regional development professionals, you will support the preparation, monitoring and implementation of the Regional Spatial and Economic Strategy (RSES), as well as a range of initiatives including EU projects that promote balanced regional development, strengthen local economies, and enhance the quality of life for communities across the region. The role offers valuable experience across a broad spectrum of planning, economic development and policy-related activities, providing a strong foundation for a career in the planning profession.
A structured Support & Development Programme will be in place to support the training and development of Graduate Planners, to assist in their work and to prepare the graduate for future Assistant Planner posts.
The Person
The ideal candidate should have a passion for shaping communities and tackling regional planning challenges and a collaborative mindset. Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills are also very important.
Location
The HQ of the Regional Assembly is in Waterford City and the post will be based either at our HQ, or at our Office in Cork City, with an option to request a blended working arrangement.
Salary
Salary is €40,244 – €50,951 p.a.
